Big Entry Door is located in Qiaoxi District, Zhangjiakou City. It was built in the 17th year of Chongzhen (1644 A.D.) and has a history of 378 years (up to 2022). Dajingmen is one of the four gateways of the Great Wall of China. It is a national key cultural relics protection unit and once played an important role in history.
In the afternoon of February 3, 2022, the torch relay of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic Games and the Winter Paralympic Games was carried out at the ancient city wall and beacon tower of Dahaohe Mountain at the south gate of Zhangjiakou Dajingmen site.
Dajingmen Scenic Area includes Dajingmen Section of the Great Wall, Dahaohe Mountain Zhangjiakou Photo Exhibition Hall, Dajingmen Section of the Great Wall National Cultural Park, Zhangjiakou Great Wall Museum and other venues.
The Dajingmen section of the Great Wall was built in the 21st year of Chenghua in the Ming Dynasty (1485). It was built on the basis of the Great Wall of the Northern Wei Dynasty. It has a history of more than 500 years. The Dajingmen section was built in the Shunzhi period of the Qing Dynasty. The "Xiaojingmen (Xijingmen)" was opened in the east during the Wanli period. The southern side is the border fort of the market. The southwest is opposite Zhangjiakou Fort. The Dajingmen section of the Great Wall has two enemy towers, a water pass, a beacon tower in the Northern Wei Dynasty, and the castle city of Ningyuan Fort, To the north, there are two city gates (Dajing Gate and Xijing Gate), and to the far castle of Nanning, there is a city gate (Yongshun Gate). The cultural relics, natural landscapes, military facilities, etc. preserved here all reflect the concentrated history and culture of Zhangyuan.
The transformed Dajingmen Square will become a landmark scenic spot, echoing the mountains, rivers, gates and the Great Wall, highlighting the city's temperament.
