Yuxian County, located in the northwest of Hebei Province, is famous for its paper-cut production. Yuxian paper-cut, also known as "window flower", is a traditional decorative art among the local people. It has a history of more than 200 years. The initial patterns are mostly auspicious patterns like flowers. Later, they were integrated into the artistic characteristics of Tianjin willow youth painting and Wuqiang New Year painting, forming their own unique style. Through the joint research of Liu Laobu and other paper-cut artists, the creation tools were reformed. Part of the patterns were carved in batches instead of single cutting, which improved Yuxian paper-cut technology. At the beginning of the 20th century, driven by artists such as Wang Laoshang, Wang Shouye and Zhou Yongming, the style of Yuxian paper-cut became more and more prominent.
